About Me
I’m a bit of a Renaissance woman (which is elegant for saying scattered). My varied interests have led me through careers as a semi-pro golfer, stockbroker, IT manager, anti-human trafficking advocate as well as a youth and young adult minister. I dabble in a bit of everything; I earned a spot in the little league softball world series, play classical guitar, tinker with painting and sketching, sing, hike, mountain bike, had a stint in a rock band, lose myself in Hallmark movies, am so competitive at board games I really can’t play them, and literally “enjoy long walks on the beach.” Throughout my life though, I really have been very involved in helping myself and others grow closer to God through the amazing and the mundane.
I’ve struggled with believing that the Creator of the Universe was indeed very much in love with me – imperfections and all. After years of self-discovery, prayer, and meditation, God transformed me so I could finally fully experience His love — actually feel it. God’s grace and peace were transferred from my head to her heart, making me on fire for others to feel the same way. My upcoming book Embracing Your Wicked Good God Awe-Full Life focuses on this transformational love of God and how to move from a fearful, transactional relationship with God to a warm, loving, and trusting faith. I now see that God truly does make my stumbles part of the dance.
I have a degree in my first love, Theology, from the Univerity of Notre Dame (go Irish!) where I also received a second undergraduate degree in Economics. Later, I earned an MBA from Regis University, and have completed varying IT and Project Management certifications. In addition, I’ve also been blessed to grow my faith through the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, work with spiritual directors, and a whole host of faith-based retreats. I’ve lived up and down the east coast and now live just outside my hometown in Ohio with my husband, Jim, and three amazing sons: Alexi, Nikita, and Misha. (In 2006, Jim and I were blessed to become adoptive parents of our three Russian born sons – which is a whole other adventure story!)
